The Marco Island Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce they will be assuming the annual sponsorship of both Marco Island’s Volunteer of the Year and Citizen of the Year Awards.
Recognizing that Marco Island is a community of giving, in 1991 the Naples Daily News and Marco Eagle began to honor those individuals whose actions made a significant difference in the Marco Island community, and mirrors the commitment to success in our professional ranks. With input from the community and past recipients, over 54 Marcoites have been presented with either the Volunteer or Citizen of the Year awards. Only three recipients have been presented with both awards; Dave Rice, Debra Shanahan and Dianna Dohm.
The Marco Island Area Chamber of Commerce will continue the tradition of presenting these prestigious awards by inviting the community for nominations and gathering of the past recipients for nominees, to ensure we recognize Marco’s “Best of the Best”. Look for nomination opportunities in the Marco Eagle and the Coastal Breeze News and online at www.marcoislandchamber.org, beginning October 1. “The Chamber is honored to assume the coordination and presentation of both awards and to carry on this important community tradition. Working with these distinguished individuals is such a privilege for the Chamber” said Dr. Rick Seigel, President, Marco Island Chamber of Commerce.
As in the past, both awards will continue to be presented at the Marco Island Area Chamber of Commerce Christmas Celebration: Winter Wonderland taking place Saturday, November 30, 2019 at the Hilton Island Beach Resort & Spa.
